UNAPOLGETICALLY LATINX QUEER

Welcome to our site "Unapologetically Latinx Queer."  As you click through these pages, you will find original research on the queer Latinx community. This is our attempt to give a voice to a group that has been marginalized for far too long. We like to consider this our contribution to a community that we value. Through the use of testimonios, we dive into issues of identity, sexuality, faith, acceptance, and machismo. May this be a space where you can learn something new or even relate to something you have already gone through. This, in itself, is a form of resistance to mainstream academia. No longer will we continue to live in silence.
Consider this your daily dose of queer Latinx sazon!

about lisset

The Catholic church has long been a center of controversy. For queer people  trying to find solace, their faith should not be as difficult as it is. Through the use of testimonios, two queer Latinx men share their voices and bring light to the issues of social isolation and rejection within the Catholic religious community. They touch upon the negative impacts that religion can have on a person's life. Click through these pages to uncover the true hypocrisy of the Catholic church.

About steven

Throughout these pages lie the voices of three queer Latinx men who were brave enough to speak their truths. Their testimonios serve as proof that coming to terms with one's sexuality, masculinity, and Latinidad is truly difficult. These men spoke about the disconnect that exists in LGBTQ culture and were brave enough to share their own experiences. Click through these pages to see what happens when joteria is emphasized and the Joto identity is reclaimed.

"I have a duty to speak the truth as I see it and share not just my triumphs, not just the things that felt good, but the pain, the intense, often unmitigated pain. It is important to share how I know survival is survival and not just a walk through the rain." - Audre Lorde
