Mestizo

The data that will be collected for this project will consist of Testimonios. I will interview individuals who identify as both Latinx Catholics and part of the LGBTQ community. I will contact 2-3 individuals who vary from the ages of 18-25. After contacting these individuals, a personal meeting will occur during a weekend in a public place or where ever they feel the most comfortable. Their responses will only be recorded if they agree to it and feel comfortable with being recorded.
Important questions that will be asked are:

The reason I am uniquely positioned to pursue this research is because being part of a community that does not tend to accept people due to their sex/ gender is something that has bothered me ever since I can remember. I often found myself arguing with many people and challenging some of the things that were said in mass. This resulted in me being labeled as a rebel for expressing my opinions. My views on becoming more accepting for the LGBTQ community have always been something that bothered others that do not agree with my views. Being condemned for being a homosexual is ridiculous, unfair, and unjust. After hearing Pope Francis express his feelings that we (Catholics) have to embrace the LGBTQ Catholics, I recognized that the religion is not the problem, but rather it is the misconception people have on what the religion stands for.
